All day Saturday, Sunday and public Holiday (Swipe card access only). 
 
All visitors must report to the Concierge Desk in the Ground Floor lobby area.
 
Conditions of Entry 
 

Due to the level of safety and security required within the building, all personnel within the building (including external visitors and contractors) are required to observe the following conditions of entry to the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. It is also the responsibility of the person(s) who invites a visitor into the Perkins Building to ensure the visitor complies with building requirements.

Admission

Admission to the Perkins Building is by appointment or invitation only. All visitors are required to immediately register via the Visitor kiosk at the Concierge desk. If an internal person invites a visitor into the Perkins Building, they must accompany them at all times.

General Conditions of Entry

  • Perkins Buildings and grounds are smoke-free.
  • Push bikes are not permitted within the building (excluding designated end of facilities areas for staff only), as well as roller blades, skateboards, radio-controlled vehicles.
  • Food and drink is only permitted in the break-out areas. Food and drink is not permitted in Seminar rooms, Laboratories or the Bioresources facility. Visitors entering a PC2 area should be accompanied by an authorised PC2 compliant person at all times.
  • Security cameras are installed throughout the Perkins Building and comply with the Information Privacy Act 2009.
  • Access control cards should only be used by the person it has been issued to and for the authorised areas granted. Access cards must not be shared, borrowed or used by any other person to enter a controlled area for which they have no authorised right of entry. Visitors must be escorted at all times, wear ID and return any access control card before exiting the building.
  • Photography is not permitted in the general building areas, laboratories or the animal facilities without prior approval.
  • Assistance animals that are accompanied by their handler, trained, registered and visibly identifiable are welcome at the Perkins Building. All other animals are prohibited.
  • Prams and strollers are permitted within the Perkins Building. Care is to be taken when using prams and strollers to avoid any damage to Perkins Building property or injury to other people within the building.
  • Prior written approval is required to hold an event or function in the Perkins Building, contact Concierge for information.
  • All Perkins Building access holders must undertake a Building induction within a short period of commencing within the Perkins Building, so they are aware and comply with the health and safety obligations, this includes evacuation routes which are also posted throughout the building.
  • To ensure audience safety at large events and functions, authorised Perkins Building Officers may request to check large bags upon entry to the Auditorium/ Building.
  • Anyone who does not comply with the Perkins Building notices or directions, or who engage in conduct that poses a threat to the Perkins Building exhibits, personal or to personal safety, may be directed to leave by the authorised Perkins Building Officer. This includes engaging in dangerous or inappropriate behaviour or illegal acts or infringing the rights of any other person.
